Goodwill-West Texas Board of Directors Announces New President and CEO

Abilene, TX- The Board of Directors for Goodwill Industries of West Texas is pleased to announce the appointment of Kevin Bradford as President and Chief Executive Officer. Bradford will succeed Cindy Ramsey, who is retiring at the end of the year, after leading Goodwill West-Texas for the past eight years.

Bradford served as the CEO of Fox Valley Hematology & Oncology for 9 years. In that role, he provided leadership to over 350 employees at 8 locations.

At Goodwill-West Texas, Bradford will be responsible for 300 employees and 13 store locations in a 35-county territory.

“We believe Bradford is the right candidate to lead our organization forward and build upon the current success of Goodwill-West Texas in fulfilling our mission of providing opportunities for people with barriers to employment,” said Don Pittman, chairman of the Goodwill-West Texas Board of Directors.

Bradford was born and raised in Abilene, graduating from Cooper High School and McMurry University. He will be moving back to Abilene from Appleton, WI with his wife Ashlee and their children.

Bradford will begin his position at Goodwill Industries of West Texas in Abilene, on January 3, 2017.

Goodwill-West Texas President/CEO Announces Retirement

President/CEO of Goodwill-West Texas, Cindy (Haley) Ramsey, has announced her retirement. Ramsey has been President & CEO of Goodwill-West Texas since August 2008. She has responsibility for leading an organization of more than 300 employees in meeting Goodwill-West Texas’ mission of providing opportunities for people with barriers to employment.

Ramsey has lived in Abilene for 34 years and is a recognized leader in the Abilene community. Prior to joining Goodwill-West Texas, she was employed by Hendrick Health System.

Ms. Ramsey has generously donated her time and talents to our community through serving on the Abilene Airport Development Board, Abilene Chamber of Commerce Board, Abilene Convention and Visitors Bureau Board, Abilene Crime Stoppers Board, is a previous chair and alumni of the Leadership Abilene program, a 2010 graduate of Leadership Texas, and a sustaining member of the Junior League of Abilene.

Board Chairman, Don Pittman, praised Ramsey for her leadership and guidance during her eight year tenure. “Cindy has been a dynamic leader to her staff and a trusted partner to our Board of Directors. Our entire organization has benefitted from her success in developing a highly skilled team and bringing innovation to key processes. She will be missed by all.”

During her tenure 2,013 people were provided employment opportunities at Goodwill-West Texas, 4 new store locations were opened, and 6,601 individuals were served through Goodwill’s various workforce development and training programs.

The organization’s board is seeking a new leader who can build upon Goodwill’s success and great achievements..

Goodwill-West Texas, the recipient of $1,000 from United Supermarkets

Goodwill-West Texas received $1,000 from United Supermarkets on Monday, August 15th at 10 o’clock in the morning at the Market Street location in Abilene on Buffalo Gap Road.

United Supermarkets is celebrating their 100th year anniversary in 2016, through means of philanthropy. United is giving away a total sum of $100,000 over 100 days to local nonprofits in increments. “Giving back to the communities we serve is our highest priority, as is showing our gratitude for the immeasurable support we receive from our faithful and long time guests,” said Mark Yowell, regional vice president for The United Family.

The Goodwill-West Texas President and CEO, Cindy Ramsey, Goodwill board members Sandra Minnick and Cale Thielen, and other Goodwill-West Texas staff were in attendance to receive the generous donation on Monday. “We are thankful to be a recipient United Supermarkets’ generosity, and will use this donation to further our mission of ‘providing opportunities for people with barriers to employment,’” said Sadie Smith, the Director of Communication/Development for Goodwill-West Texas.

Goodwill-West Texas operates 13 stores from Midland/Odessa to Eastland, Brady and San Angelo in West-Texas. All operated from the corporate offices in Abilene and serve the residents of 35 counties through job training and placement services. Yowell also commented, “we are honored to have been able to support a variety of non-profit organizations through our 100 Days of Giving campaign and are especially proud to join Goodwill of Abilene to make a difference in the Abilene area.”

RAY KING HONORED FOR BRINGING GOODWILL TO ABILENE

Abilene Reporter News, ABILENE, TX–Long before May 4, 2016, was proclaimed “Ray King Day” in Abilene, King already had gotten his reward.

It came when King visited a local Goodwill Industries facility where his son Brian was employed and saw how well-accepted he was. Brian King was born with Down syndrome and has been employed by Goodwill Industries much of his adult life.

ABILENE MAYOR HELPS HONOR FOUNDER OF GOODWILL-WEST TEXAS

KTXS May 4, 2016–Ray King opened Abilene’s first Goodwill store on Pine Street in 1983, and it has since expanded into 13 stores covering 35 counties in the area. Abilene Mayor Norm Archibald issued a proclamation honoring King at a luncheon held at Abilene Christian University Wednesday.
